I installed SCC this morning and managed to run it fine a few times. Now for some reason when I run it my monitor switches off (such as when the monitor activates power-saving mode) until I alt-tab out of the game. I can hear the music playing but nothing shows on the screen.

I haven't changed any settings or installed anything new since the last time I played. I'm running the demo. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

the refresh rate ingame might be to high for your monitor. my only guess

Is there any way to change it from outside of Spore? I've tried re-installing it, but it still does the same thing.

EDIT: Managed to fix it by right-clicking on the .exe file, clicking the "compatibility" tab and selecting the option to run it in 640x480 resolution. From there I was able to go into settings and uncheck the "Play in Full Screen" option, after which I could select another resolution from within the game. For some strange reason the problem was that it was trying to run the game at a resolution of 800x600 @ 0Hz!
