My fiance got a "failing to stop at a stop street" and "not wearing a seatbelt" fine for R700 yesterday. She was returning from home to work (which is 2km away) and was about 100m from work. She said she did stop by the stop street but didnt come to a complete stop for 3 seconds at the 3 way stop street and thats when the traffic cop gave her a spot fine. (pretty dodgy area wouldnt have her walking there by herself)
She handed him her drivers etc but on the fine he spelt her name wrong but everything else seems to be correct.
Just wondering if this fine will hold as its now fining Semone instead of Simone?

If the car registration number is on the fine as well then it will most probably stand, unless you can prove the someone called Semone was driving the car on that day.

Nah the fines were pretty specific and looked it up.
Seatbelt : R200
Failing to stop at a stop street or robot : R500

The funny thing is after the speedcop sped off he jimself almost made a accident with another call.

Nope, the fine will stand. And good too, because it's really stupid to drive while not wearing a seatbelt.

Yeah it is very stupid...

But what sucks is when you get pull off at night and you undo your seatbelt to get your wallet out of your denim pocket (you know, very difficult while sitting) so you have your license handy and then they fine you for not wearing your seatbelt even thought you always wear it (and I force my passengers to wear theirs)...

funny...spot fines (read: bribes) are normally severely discounted when paying cash :D I think she got ripped off
