Spotify launches redesign for desktop app and web player

Popular music streaming service Spotify has unveiled a new design for its web player and desktop app which seeks to align the computer-based experience with that of its mobile app on Android and iOS.

"Since the desktop experience served as the original window to the world for Spotify, this was not a task we took lightly. It took months of tests and research, talking to users, and gathering feedback," Spotify said.

"Now, we’re pleased to deliver a new, clean design, more controls, and a great new foundation for our listeners to use Spotify across our desktop app and web player for the years to come," it stated.

Yes/no, it does automatically select the search input field, but it takes a little bit to load, now try searching in one of your playlists if it's over a few hundred songs.

Talking about Spotify premium why Tymebank and Vodacom charge extra R6 for Spotify subscription? This don't make sense unless Spotify don't have local office in SA, even Netflix subscription seem cheaper because you don't pay extra R6

Spotify needs to really put some effort into making the app more stable. Constant crashes on my phone and laptop. Sometimes songs randomly refuse to play as well. I’m actually starting to miss Apple music

What devices are you playing on? I've been using Spotify for years and I'm not sure I've ever had a crash on any platform.

Their support is excellent. Send them a Tweet and let them do some troubleshooting.

Same here. Must be something on his devices.

Windows, iPhone mostly. On my PC the songs would randomly stop playing and it would refuse to play any song, have to restart the app to get them working again. On the iPhone the app would crash and just quit. Granted, I haven't had an iPhone crash that in a while so I think they patched it.

On my new M1 MBA the app crashes constantly when coming out of sleep, however it's still running under Rosetta2 so some odd behaviour is to be expected. Some friends of mine also have issues with Spotify, and a quick google tells me it's not so isolated. WebApp always works 100% though

I've got Spotify on my phone and it has never crashed (iPhone Xr) and I use the desktop app on my work laptop which has never crashed. Maybe uninstall/reinstall both.
