We have it good here. In the US etc. it's $10 p/m.
Not necessarily. Adjusted for purchasing power parity, $10 has an implied value in SA of around R60. We're bang on for once.

I pay $9.99 here in Canada. It's so convenient, I don't mind at all.
Well spotify free on PC, Xbox one and PS4 is pretty decent. You can basically do everything. One mobile it's where the shuffle mode comes in and it sucks. Even if you shuffle play your playlist they still squeeze in 2-4 random songs not in you playlist after each song that is in your playlist. With limited skips on free you end up listing to stuff you don't want.
So I guess for free you can complain. R60 is not much so well worth the premium sub.

The biggest issue with Spotify in SA is the lack of family plan. Apple Music and Play Music both have it, and there's no comparison if you're someone with a family.
If I had to guess I'd say the reason is because the Spotify family plans abroad are more finicky than the competition - they actually require that you connect regularly via the same network. They might view that requirement as untenable in a poor country where so many people connect via individual mobile connections. And if they're going to suspend the requirement for one country then all others will want the same. College kids in the US can't even remain on their family plan if they're leaving home, so Spotify knows the outcry would be real.

It blows my mind reading what you said about those that use the free tier. It is after all, a free tier, with advertising. I would expect this sort of reaction if "free tier" was code for pirating. I just don't use it enough to justify paying the subscription.

Through Telkom LIT, yes.
It's R60. To improve the quality and support artists is reason enough to spend that. Perhaps you'd use it much more if you had the Premium experience. Music is one of the great joys of life, so let Spotify find stuff you enjoy.
I went looking and I see it supports Play Music and Simfy. It also isn't zero-rated but limited to 10GB.
If you are stuck with such a Telkom arrangement, Play Music is very good.
I actually find play music to be really meh compared to Deezer and Spotify. Play music also does not have a free tier so no way to check what you can and can't listen to.

Okay cool did not see that but yeah no free tier. So in terms of paid then maybe but so far the big players Apple Music, Spotify and Deezer seems the best options from what I have tested.

Still on google play...the SA fam account is about same cost as overseas individuals so I piggyback on sisters SA plan
He means doesn't count towards usage type zero rated.

Nope, I agree. Play Music is better than Apple Music imo. The auto stations blow Apple's away.
