How to spot a card-skimmer at an ATM or restaurant

South Africans should be aware of the constant threat that physical card transactions pose, including card skimming to steal bank card information.

According to the South African Banking Risk Information Centre (Sabric), victims of reported counterfeit credit card fraud lost R142 million in 2022, whereas losses from debit card fraud stood at R270 million.

Don't fall for a phishing site and then authorise the adding of your card to some other persons device wallet and you should be fine.

Happy with my Apple watch still. Sometimes I miss more digital watch faces but that's about it.

Apple watch IS a scam.

Apple watch IS a scam.

It replaced my analog watch, wallet and 10 + loyalty cards, replaced my alarm, work calendar with week numbers, torch to open doors during loadshedding and got me to lose 10kg and become more active. Also it's much safer than carrying around a smartphone. I fail to see the scam.

I haven't used any of my physical bank cards in years, to swipe or tap, all loaded on my phone along with all my store loyalty cards.
