I bought a 2000 Fiat Sienna 1.2 with some body damage at a very good price.

The person that sold me the car said they will they will arrange to have the body fixed and resprayed, I just need to buy the paint and sanding paper and paint. The color is metallic maroon. I'm sure paint will include primer so I need to know what the cost will be for the paint and sanding paper...I know nothing about this so I don't want to be taken for a ride.

Thank you for taking your time to reply.

contact a place that sells auto paints, i think there was a place called maroons?

There is such a place and I will contact them. I should probably get second and third opinions also but it is also easier to post a thread and see what other experienced people will reply with :)

Experienced IT professionals really know cars.

Do Experienced IT professionals walk where they need to go or do they get lifts from friends like Sheldon does? I think not but I do respect your wisdom.

Be very wary, respraying of cars especially mettalic/Base coat with clear is a precise art and looks really cr4p when done poorly. The correctly matched 2k paints, colour matched basecoat/clear/primer/hardener/thinners/tack rags/mask filters etc etc cost a mint. Budget around min R1.5-2k for good quality stuff, ie nothing fancy just stuff that will work and last.

I'd say either make sure the price can accommodate taking the car to get sorted at a panel beaters or back out of the deal, granted if you don't mind driving a car that looks sh## then go right ahead.

A Sienna of that age and with poor bodywork is barely worth R10k, what price is the guy offering, can you post pics of the damage?
