Springbok Team Announced

They did play well considering all the other factors....

I think PDV is right in selecting a couple of new guys that have never played test rugby...

He is trying to create more depth in the team BEFORE we play the Kiwi's and the Ausies....

Give the man a chance... he isn't completely useless.

Only person that didn't look the part on saturday imo was Luke Watson.

Its very easy to look good when your forming the triangle with Juan Smith and Pierre Spies, but i will grant him that he played miles better then last year.

Oh defintely, I am very impressed with our new coach, and his new approach

Yeah i also like the idea of running a bit more, because we have always had the talent...

Also i was really impressed with the way that Jantjies played.

Hey, I must have been watching a different game. Those that have seen my comments before will know I am no big Watson fan but on Saturday he had a great game. Look back at the hilites and you will see he set up two of the tries. Jacobs was made to look good by Jean creating space for him, saying that however, he was running the right lines and perhaps the coach has seen the potential of a combination of the 2 of them together.

I thought that Wales played badly. We did put them under pressure but they were below par and we were flattered.

"great game" is a bit strong imo..... i still say i would like to see him against some real fetchers but he will 10-1 get hs chance in the tri-nations then we will see, maybe he proves us all wrong :)

I agree with the positive sentiment. And, remember, we had to go back to the old rules while Wales were still in the swing of things. And despite that, the penalty count was in our favour.

Well Well Well.

Looks like I owe someone some Cyber beers :D

:D
No point drinking alone, 3 each, cheers ;)

re Wales performance. I was listening to Dan Retief (who's rugby opinion I respect a lot) talking about how we would be playing a game at a much faster pace to what Wales would be accustomed to, and any other northern hemisphere side for that matter.
I think he was quite right. It was not the absolute blinding pace of some 'Super 14 ELV' games, but it was notably up tempo from the game Wales were looking at playing.

Missed the AB vs Ire game, what was that like?

We are blessed with many very talented rugby players. It is the coach that has to make it all work. The team biatch slapped Wales, PDV the Capt and the team can take a bow.

My question is this though, if this is PDV's team that he keeps for the incoming tests, will the team look vastly different to a team he chooses to field for a tri-nations match?

The All Black/Ireland game was more of a classic test. The weather was bad so it did not suit the All Blacks. It was anybody's game right up to the last few minutes. We can take New Zealand.

Don't agree re Watson. Look at the hilites and you will see in all the key moments he was the guy creating the opportunity, particularly with De Villiers try. However when Schalk comes back he will have to be dropped. I would put down Juan Smiths name on my teamsheet every time.

PDV needs to look at the bench. We need impact players like Kanko and the like - gamebreakers. I would assume the same squad will play again this week-end but going forward we need to change.

Yes you are right, but they have Spies, so dont need anyone else, basically we can reduce our rugby side to 1 player : Spies!!!

So stop your unholy belief in konko, and join the Spies side, c'mon, the water is warm here and we have t-shirts

Wonder if anything will come of this frans steyn wants to play flyhalf thing.... Its not going to be easy to lift Butchie from that spot :D

Yes interesting. Will have to see, butch is a game saver in that position and a great kicker especially under pressure

yeah and he has a couoke of years left :)

But Steyn is only 21 atm so he can afford to wait for 3 year before he makes the nr 10 jersey his own :)

All I know is, they are playing at the home of rugby this weekend LOFTUS!!!

Wanted to get some tickets, but jeez are they expensive, almost R300 for the cheap seats, and that is in the nosebleed section where you need something like a telescope to see the field. And they wonder why so many seats are empty

Yeah its the ticket prices is mad :(

Also wanted to go but hay tele with beer is not bad :D
