Springboks EOYT 2012

Don't you mean Jean and Juan at centre, Kirchner rested and Jaco at fb?

Oops, I missed an 'or' in the middle of that sentence. Lemme try that again.....

It's possible that JdV will be rested, or Taute to fb and Kirchner out.

I read it earlier on Keo.co.za ...

‘We’re a relatively young team and haven’t played together much, we want to keep some continuity. We respect Scotland and won’t just give Test caps away. There won’t be a lot of changes but the one that will probably happen is to see Juan come in. He has been knocking hard on the door and deserves a chance,’ Meyer said.

‘It isn’t definite, I want to speak to some of the [senior] players as well, but he probably will start. We’ll have a rotation policy in that position. Jaco Taute probably had his best Test against Ireland [at outside centre], and we’ll have to see whether we pair Juan and Jaco, who can also play inside centre, and give Jean de Villiers a break. Jean has played with a couple of injuries recently he needs a rest. Jaco could also play at fullback [replacing Zane Kirchner], but again, I don’t want to make too many changes.’

With the current touring squad and resting JdV, I would like to see this starting backline on Saturday. Blood some youngsters and experiment!

9. Pienaar
10. Lambie
11. Mvovo
12. De Jongh
13. JP Pietersen
14. Rhule
15. Taute

I'd be happy with this.

Here's your backs to pick from:

Juan de Jongh
Jean de Villiers
Francois Hougaard
Elton Jantjies
Zane Kirchner
Pat Lambie
Lionel Mapoe
Lwazi Mvovo
Ruan Pienaar
JP Pietersen
Raymond Rhule
Morne Steyn
Jaco Taute
Jano Vermaak

Another option:

9. Pienaar
10. Jantjies
11. Rhule
12. De Jongh
13. Taute
14. Pietersen
15. Lambie

If you want to start Jantjies and have Lambie at the back Mapoe must be you other centre. Taute has had a crack and was found wanting at centre.

I like Pieterson at centre as well the guy doesn't bash every ball he gets and is silky smooth, he must be the new spokesperson for vaseline because nobody tackles him first time!

9. Pienaar
10. Jantjies
11. Rhule
12. de Jongh
13. Mapoe
14. Pietersen
15. Kirchner/Taute (Nobody likes Kirchner but he's solid and has great composure. The Scots have little to no attacking edge so we'll likely field a number of high balls, and Kirchner is solid under those.)

I think that would be a change of pace. Pienaar is the odd one out being a more conservative player, but the rest of them would certainly bring an attacking edge to the backline. I'd go for a solid pack and let the youngsters work off of what should be a solid platform.

I would like to see a young team start, with a VERY solid bench for if things go south....

Lambie should get another shot at 10 although I still feel he is a beter fullback.

I would also love seeing JP at 13 and JdJ at 12 (as long as he passes the fscking ball, which he has not been doing very well).

Then Mvovo and Rhule to start on the wings, Taute at fullback :D

Hey just looked back at the team which lost to Scotland in 2010

Springbok team to face Scotland:

Zane Kirchner
Gio Aplon
Jean de Villiers
Frans Steyn
[-]Bryan Habana[/-] Lwazi Mvovo

Morne Steyn
Francois Hougaard

Ryan Kankowski
Juan Smith
Deon Stegmann

Victor Matfield (c)
Bakkies Botha

Jannie du Plessis
Bismarck du Plessis
Tendai Mtawarira

Replacements: Adriaan Strauss, CJ van der Linde, Flip van der Merwe, Willem Alberts, Ruan Pienaar, Patrick Lambie, [-]Lwazi Mvovo[/-]Adi Jacobs.

Our team now doesn't look very strong compared to that one and a lot of the players has played in that game.

Does not say too much :)

That and an on form MS, Victor and Bakkies in the engine room, Beast, Bissie as well as F Steyn in the mid field.... that makes a huge difference.

SA were pathetic on the day and the scots played well. It is just one of those things.

My point though was that HM is under pressure so don't expect radical changes to the side from Ireland as he wants that W badly and won't risk Rhule and othe wholesale changes.

Heinke might get a start after a good outing in the scrums.

I also do not see HM going with a new back line even against the scots as these win/losses are the Boks' ticket to landing in another group other than Aus, NZ, France/Eng

This coach is way too conservative.

This coach is way too conservative.

Naas Botha said a few years ago before we played Wales in the Millennium stadium that he doesn't care if the boks win by one point as long as they win. We won that game with two points and someone phoned in on SuperRugby and said one point win and two point thrashing.

The point is HM needs to win at all costs, he only knows one way of doing it and will do it that way just to ensure we win. Change will come but gradually.

Saying he is too conservative because he won't give a new cap to a 20 year old wing, not pick a new centre combo or remove the FB which it has to be said didn't do as badly as many pundits said is asking too much.

In the end if you really support the boks you would be like me when I wrote my third year exams: aim for 100% but 50% is also allright! In a rugby context it would be win by 20 but 1 point is also allright :)

//no bok coach should be below 65% win rate imho

That Pdivvy must win games?

Kitch Christie 1994–1996 100% *WC Winner

Andre Markgraaff 1996 61%

Carel du Plessis1997 37%

Nick Mallett1997–2000 71%

Harry Viljoen2000–2002 53%

Rudolph Straeuli2002–2003 52%

Jake White2004–2007 67% *WC Winner

Peter de Villiers2008–2011 62% *includes a series victory of B&I lions

PDivvy has been very successful with the boks, lots of people said he 'geploeg met Jake se kallers' but I enjoyed him as coach very lively won in NZ and the Lions.

So I don't understand your question?

Simple question? Was it PD or was it the captain winning the games? I hear he abdicated decisions mostly
