Spur releases new plant based menu options

Beyond burger, is that Spur's name for their burgers or is that a brand you can buy from the shops and cook yourself?

We buy the Fry and Linda McCartney brands of non-meat burgers and sausages but wouldn't mind trying another brand if there is available.

Imported from the US but they are available through wholesalers in SA. They and another brand called Impossible burger are duelling it out for the title of best beeflike burger.

Why would anyone want to share a bean bunny when there is a Mutton bunny that is much better, you can keep your vegetablist bunny

He prefers chicken bunny's. Although he has been known to indulge in a beans bunny on occasion

Makes no difference to me, I haven't been to a Spur for years and if I did I wouldn't mind trying a plant based burger for no other reason than to see how 'close' it is to a beef burger. Unfortunately, even the next big thing miracle plant based burgers from the likes of Beyond and Impossible burgers are heavily processed with large amounts of saturated fat and sodium if you are concerned about them. I still don't understand the fascination with meat replacements though, if you want to be plant based, vegan, vegetarian, etc. just eat non meat substitute type meals. There are plenty of them and they are delicious.

The Linda McCartney burger is pretty close to the taste of a McDonald's burger, all it needs is more of a rubbery texture and it would be dead on

Haven't actually tasted LM's burgers, we use Frys for burgers, but LM's rosemary sausages are nice, that's the only flavour we have tested so far. Need to try some other flavours if they have any.

Apart from the bean based burger I'm not about to try any of the other stuff tbh.

I used to take my kid to Spur because he liked to play there, but happily, he has become bored with the place and with so many children there nowadays... Listen, this place isn't boycotted in the Western Cape as people try to make me believe that the place is running empty, it is full of noise and cramped up spaces.

Now I have better options and better value for money. I would much rather take my kid to Bossa for example, although I have recently found hair in my food at that place.

Also, from a another value perspective, there are better value steakhouses even though they come at a slightly higher price than Spur.

However, I must add since Spur changed their internal marketing a bit, their quality have improved. The staff seems better trained, the food is better presented, their timing have improved, the waiters are less invasive and funnel the sale of the experience appropriately, and then their schnitzels stay an immense bargain in comparison to others.

Just decided I'm going to transition to vegan.

Then make a killing off Spur ...
