Hi there,

Just wanted to check if anyone knew whether there was a squash court in and around Lyndhurst, Sandton or Edenvale? (public one that is);)

The gyms are your best bet, although the courts there usually suck.

otherwise there is edenvale squash club, chamber and wanderers.

The fee's are usually quite steep if you are a non member.

In PTA we have it just about the other way round. At my gym (VA) the courts are well-lit, with walls being repainted often enough to stay in good condition. And you can book online, which is quite a convenience. At our nearest open courts, you can't book unless a club member (which is fairly expensive), lights are R20/hour (which is fair enough). The club's entrance is badly located, though. It's in an out-of-sight location inside an office complex, with scaly characters in the vicinity. I much prefer the gym.

I don't mind paying a fee, just not gym membership

gym membership will work out cheaper. Especially if you are on discovery.
I know rates at places like parkview SC are around R50 for 45 minutes (aprox).
You do get premium squash courts though which makes a massive difference.

Look ar mr Price sports. They sell cheap racquets.

Get a cheap racket by all means, but get proper shoes. I cannot stress this enough, squash is very hard on the body. The wrong shoes will make your life hell.
If you are paying less than R450 for shoes, you will regret it.

I have discovery. You need vitality though don't you
Yeah, unfortunately

Thanks. I have played squash a couple years ago and want to get back into it.

Need to get energised

I think edenvale squash club is gone. Unless they moved to somewhere's hidden. There is a townhouse complex where they used to be now.

my bad, i didnt play league this year, just looked through last years league book for club venues

The closest to Edenvale would be Jeppe Quandam sports club I think. Bedfordview sports club too. In the vicinity of Sandton you also have Wendywood sports club.
