I have a Honda Accord and for some time now the steering makes a squeaking sound when I turn. Sounds like rubber rubbing on rubber..or sumfin......
Been at Honda Midrand 3 times to get this repaired but it still does the same. Im also nearing the end of my warranty and wanna get it sorted before then.
Does anyone know of a capable and good Honda service center/dealer around midrand or edenvale? Also had a problem where one brake pad was warn completely down and all the others are still on 50%...how does that happen?

Totally off topic, but....

I once had a girlfriend with an old Fiat Uno and she said it was acting funny whenever she pulled off, it would drag a bit. So I tell her it's probably the clutch, so she says, 'Yes, whenever I push it in make a squeaking noise.'

So when I finally finished laughing I explained to her that the clutch pedal and the clutch weren't the same thing. The squeaky pedal probably wasn't the problem :)

It's probably the power steering oil that is low - our backyard mechanic fixed our Polo (2000 model) that way. Be patient, the squeeking takes a few weeks to go away.

Now can anyone provide advice on my Astra's aircon gas leaking problem? Dye shows no sign of leakage and it takes about 10 days to evaporate!

Not sure its that. Honda said the oil was fine. It actually sounds like something is rubbing against something else.....I hate the freaken noise. But wil make sure they check it again.
I had a problem witht he aircon on my Corsa 1.8 GSI..turns out it was hole on one of the aluminium pipes...it just appeared. Took it to Delta in Rivonia and they said I must pay for the gas....well I didn't as the car was under warranty and it was not my fault the pipe got a hole in it......had to fight with a few people about the gas..but wasn't gonna pay R400.
Is you Astra still under warranty?

Nope - its turning 14 this year, 220th km on the clock but still going strong. Had the aircon problem several times. Polo Air in Randburg had a shot at it, refilled 3 times and gave up. Somebody else mentioned a possible dirty condenser? Now with VSB in Linden who has replaced a switch and regassed 2x - the guy said he will find the problem, and will keep the car for 2 weeks if necessary. Hold thumbs!

Hope they find the problem....otherwise you should sell it and buy a corsa OPC or Astra OPC....grin....Car prices are going up by 25% this year.......

Back to your problem - it may be that the Honda's power steering oil is just dirty, and may be worth replacing (anyway, that's what was recommended to me when the Polo's squeeking did'nt go away immediately). Elimination is sometimes the way to go. Good luck!

Ive explained to Honda that they will fix this even if I go out of warranty as they are the ones who can't find the problem....but I will mention this to the guys at Honda....Might try Edenvale Honda......Thanx
