SSD and Motherboard compatibility

Hey guys....

I wanna get myself a SSD tomorrow but before I do I would like to find out how do I know if a SSD is compatible with my motherboard?

What must be done when installing it?

I have the ASUS P8P67-M board...

From my knowledge if your MB supports SATA you should be fine. Or you could contact the support channel for the manufacturer of the MB.

Your motherboard has 2x SATA III (6Gbps), so you should be able to utilize the SATA III SSD's fully with your motherboard.

The OCZ Agility 3 drives are pretty affordable now and they're very fast.

@ Pada I saw the prices compared between the Agility 120gb and the Vertex 120gb. The specs look more or less similar so why would the vertex be a bit more pricier than the Agility? So can I save like R300 by purchasing the Agililty?

If you just want to buy the SSD to increase your overall performance, then I'd say go for the Agility 3.

If you're really going to push the limits of the SSD in terms of input/output operations per second, then go for the Vertex 3.

You might want to ask for other opinions too, because I've occasionally suggested that people shouldn't buy SSD's

I have a P8P67-M Pro with a Vertex 3. No problems.

The reason I got the Vertex instead of Agility was because I already decided to spend so much on an SSD, figured I might as well spend a little extra and get the best (at the time). Not sure if that makes sense, but it did when I bought it...

With that said, any SSD will be amazingly faster than any spinning drive. Chrome opens before you click on it!
