Good morning all,

I have finally decided to take the leap and buy a solid state drive. I have great hope that it will also provide me with an indescribable feeling of ecstasy as “described” by so many others.

I have looked around and it seems that most people are in great favor of the OZC range (specifically the agility and vertex 4). It also seems that Intel make some of the best drives when it comes to reliability.

I was hoping that someone would be able to shed some more light on this for me.

Thanks in advance.

I have a Vertex 3 and I'm happy. What I'm less happy about is the amount of time my SATA3 firmware takes to get past it's BIOS post. I'm not using RAID, yet a good 5 secondes of my boot is wasted.

/endrant.

I use an ADATA 128GB SSD with Sandforce controller, was told that Sandforce is currently as good as it gets, so far I am extremely happy with it, no problems.

Vertex 4 and G.Skill Phoenix pro here, no problems at all, to this point....

@unskinnybob, mine was also taking ages to boot, my mistake was putting it on the Marvell sata 3 ports... I switched it to the other intel sata 3 ports, and boom, lightening fast.

I have two Agility 3 SSDs (60Gb and 120Gb), very happy so far. Been using it since February and I haven't had any issues so far. Massive upgrade from HDD, especially for boot and program start-up.

If you want the last word on SSD's, read Anandtech. He gets very technical though!

He recommends the Samsung 830 range for good reliability and great speed. The Intel SSD's are very reliable indeed, possible the most reliable. The Vertex 4 range is great too.

Thank you very much for the feedback.

I have decided to give the vertex 4 a try.
