SSD help please

The Vertex is faster. The biggest difference comes in with IOPS.

Have a look at the spec sheet. IMHO either one will be way faster than a tradition HDD.

At the end of the day it's your money and you decide.

Just bear in mind Apple doesn't support third party SSD's officially, so you won't get trim support first and foremost. This may impact on the lifespan of your SSD.

You can enable trim support - "Trim Enabler" something like that.. I'm using it on my SSD and works fine.

I got to warn you on the OCZ, my humble opinion on these drives are that they have issues.
I have had endless issues with my Vertex 3 and BSOD's.
I have had no issues with a 2TB WD drive on same system.

Just my 2 cents.

You can do that, but the trim enabler mucks around in the kernel which is a big no-no. I know lots of people use it and it seems to be fine by empirical evidence, but equally there are quite a number of cases where it causes problems. I suggest a time machine backup be made if you are going to use Trim Enabler.

Anything piece of software which is not "Apple approved" will muck around with something.. So it's really up to the end user to decide to use it or not..
I was just mentioning that you can enable TRIM support on OSX.

I have been using Trim Enabler with my Samsung 830 and have had no issues so far..

Bad apple if you ask me.

I have been running a 120GB ocz agility3 for about 4 months now, without so much as a single moment of trouble, and my system still boots up as fast as the day I installed windows on it for the 1st time. Beautiful really.

I have no problems recommending them.

Installed a vertex in my boss' 2009 MacBook pro. He doesn't use OSX, bootcamp only, been running for about 3 months now. No problems and fast as hell

Thats true, but its one thing to use terminal to redirect software verification checks to localhost and another to replace kernel files. Just saying, its your machine after all.
