So i have the 256GB vertex 4 ssd and i have upgraded the firmware to the latest version, however when i run the benchmarks this is what i get (see below),

Here is my 500GB sataII WD caviar black hdd,

Is the SSD performing as well as it should be considering it has a max read / write speed of over 500MB/s.?

sorry about that, just realised i had it plugged into the 3gb sata port and not the 6gb sata port...dam things all mix up with the 3gb ports and i had 2 x 3gb ports by themselves to 1 side hence the confusion. will post update score pics later.

Then how else would you find a fault eg: me not connecting it to sataIII ? If I never did that I wouldn't of known better lol.

Its not bad to run benchies as long as you dont do it often. Also remember to log off and leave the pc on for an hour or so every once and a while to let trim kick in and do its business

You should really only be using ATTO or AS SSD to bench your ssd. Gives the right numbers

My Vertex 4 128gb gets around 1060 points in AS SSD

Methinks your SSD might not be running in AHCI mode in the BIOS as well. You'd have to reinstall your OS with AHCI enabled to see the proper speeds even on a SATA 6GB/s controller.

Got myself a 128GB agility 4 today, never experienced an ssd kick before gona install it wen I have time.... I hope it was worth the R1200

What is the rest of your system specs? I hope you have like 6GB+ RAM, Quad Core CPU and a SATA III capable motherboard and like Windows 7 x64.

Make sure that you enable AHCI mode in the BIOS first and that you install it on a SATA II/II (preferably SATA III port if you do have one).

Secondly, after you did a clean install of Windows 7, make sure to perform a couple of other Windows SSD related tweaks, such as moving the temporary files off your SSD. There are numerous guides available on the Internet regarding Windows SSD tweaks.

with regards to the tweaking. originally when i installed with ahci enabled it would not allow me to install windows onto my ssd for some stupid reason (cant remember what it was. would the reason be that i have a normal hdd plugged in as well?

Why the hell is my SSD still running slow considering i have already configured it to be running in AHCI now? And why would my write speed drop?

Win7 probably didn't allow you to install on your SSD, because it did not include the SATA controller drivers - or at least this was the issue when I recently tried to install Windows 7 on my OCZ Agility 4 128GB with my Asus P7H55D-M Evo motherboard. I had to copy the SATA drivers to a flashdrive that I had to use during the installation.

When moving from a HDD to SSD, I would encourage a reinstall, not just so that you can enable AHCI, but also because Windows 7 creates the partition with a 1MB offset which should give you another performance boost.

Snails:
it looks like your AHCI drivers are BAD and that you're not using AHCI drivers at all according to that AS SSD Window stating "pciide - BAD".

I had to download drivers directly from Intel's website, because Asus didn't have the latest and best drivers in the download list for my specific motherboard.

Here's how my OCZ Agility 4 128GB benchmarks look like on my Asus P7H55D-M Evo's SATA II port:
