I have SSD's in my laptop & desktop and have not bothered with any optimization or monitoring software yet, other than running "Acronis TrueImage HD" to migrate the boot partitions.
So far so good.
I have Adata S510's.
120Gig.
One weird thing though (on both laptop and desktop), 1 out of 10 cold boots result in a blank desktop with just the standard Windows 7 icons and standard wallpaper.
I have to log out and login again & voilah my personalized desktop returns. (with my wallpaper and all my icons)
This only started happening after migrating to SSD.
