bra get yourself a gas bottle, burner and camping kettle, or better yet a gas hob.
Got those.... but I can't find my lighter.
Would rub some sticks together but it rained last night.
Will sleepdrive to garage and make some coffee there....

Date: 6 February 2020

Stage 2 rotational loadshedding will continue today and tomorrow, with a high probability over the weekend
Considering they lost 2000mw in one day, or they lied yesterday it seems likely that it will continue over till whenever.
It's also amazing how long it takes to repair a cable in Kelvin. Seems City Power just wanted to give us a taste of no load shedding, only to yank it out from us.

It looks easy when you assume it's just a cable, I don't know but I think it's more than that. What is bad is City Power not providing any updates on the issue, In the days of Mashaba you would have almost running commentary on what is going on.

And the Eskom "traffic reprieve" lasted, what, a day and a half.

This is an abusive relationship. Mental abuse.

Nope I'm pretty used to City Power not providing updates. Even in Mashaba days, I live in an area that has power failures every week. I've yet to receive an ETR in 5 years.

I CAN'T ****ING DEAL with this overnight loadshedding.

Daytime is fine cos everything needed is on the inverter but this off at 1 or 3 or 5 is doing my head in waking me up every night.

Inverter beeps as it clicks over, can't turn it off as it runs the alarm/cameras.
Neighbours alarm goes off.
Mrs insists on having her phone on the bedside table so screen turns on.
TV turns on sometimes, !@#$ knows why
And most importantly the fan in the bedroom goes off.

I am exceedingly grumpy...

Shame man, it really sucks. I have just bought some USB fans and power banks. This really helps keep the heat at bay. I found really nice rechargeable pedestal fans (full size), but there's no stock. No way you could import these? I am sure they would sell like hotcakes.

I don't mean on localized faults but every time there was a bulk project to be done or repairs he was pretty much on the ball with updates. I remember that water pipe fix they undertook some time ago.

Genius, I thought they only came in those teeny tiny versions, found a 15cm which will work nicely, will be installing this evening :)

Those fans will cost a fortune to import individually, will only make sense as a bulk shipment. We can do that no problem but then I have to offload 1000 of the things, I'm not really into selling stock of that magnitude. But hey if you want to do it pop thorough a request.

Not to mention the criminals take opportunity during this time, they've already started attempting at houses around us...

I'd love to mount those Magneto LED lanterns mounted outside permanently, to go on when the power goes off, but they need to have day/night sensors built in, to only go on when it is dark and the power is out.

Agreed, overnight loadshedding is far more disruptive, as it ruins our sleep. I also wake up when it goes off and later when it returns. , appliances like the fridge go "crack" and the stupid Samsung aircon beeps and some internal motor turns for a while, even if switched off. I also get way too hot with no aircon.

What I do now is run the aircon at 16C from 7pm to refrigerate my bedroom in time for 9pm or later loadshedding.

If the TV turns on, was it on before loadshedding? Sometimes they cache the "on" state in memory.

BTW that "crack" Is a power surge caused by the start-up current.

of course, you are imagining it hearing things that don't happen --- the motor start slowly because the voltage rises slowly.

I get a notification on my phone when the power goes off or on - but my phone automatically mutes at 10pm so nothing disturbs me :D
