South Africa on the brink of Stage 7 load-shedding

Eskom appears to be on the verge of implementing Stage 7 load-shedding, with the power utility's recent peak supply and demand figures painting a bleak picture.

Its peak demand figures for Monday and Tuesday, 8 and 9 May 2023, show that it ran 19 open-cycle gas turbines (OCGTs) and implemented Stage 6 load-shedding and Stage 4 load-curtailment.
 
I reckon they're going to bust through that stage 6 ceiling they've been so desperate to stay under. I guess stage 8 will become the new ceiling they have to get us used to.
 
They are probably just trying to make it to weekend without ramping up to higher stages. If anything breaks they'll have no choice.

I think we're on the same schedule. That describes my experience as well. I was supposed to be off again from 6am - 8am and that didn't happen.

Yup, let’s hope they don’t switch off again. Might not come on again for a very long time.

Well, that's exactly why it's not gone off again. Eskom can't remotely switch things and will need to send out a tech to manually do the switching, and then after 2 or 4 hours switch things on again.
 
How is this possible though? I mean, I'd love to get 139% out of my 100% available salary.

then the downtrend is indicative of us being unable to reliably maintain that which is unreliable. Either the South African populace lack the skills and resources, or Eskom is derelict. Just going by what the senior minister stated.
