hey everyone, really need some help and input here.

My gf's birthday is coming up and she really loves playin the piano but doesnt own one. Being the great guy that i am :D lol, i decided to buy one for her but heres my dilemma...I know jack about this stuff!!!

here's what i do know. She would like something portable (i.e. electric), a full set of keys (weighted) and not a fancy synthesizer (she says its called a stage piano). I''ve saved up about R6000; can i get anything in that range and whats a good brand??

somebody save me and make me look like a hero!!!!

Casio is a leader in this regard.

I would suggest going to Pavillion in Durban and look for a "sound" shop, usually where they sell instruments and the likes (I'm just saying Pavillion because that's the only one I know :p ).

Speak to the guys there and explain to them what you need, but don't mention your budget, as they normally try to push it just under or over your budget, just say what you need and ask for the price.

;)

I don't think R6000 is going to cut it, but have a look at Cavinova (sp?). They make electric pianos that are nothing but an electric piano, and sound about as close to the real thing as you can get.

Hey Imaginary Friend

Have a look at the M-Audio. You will find you can get what you are after from TOMS in JHB for well under 6k

The one problem is that weighted and portable are not compatible. Maybe look at a semi weghted one. Like the prokeys 88sx!

Site seems to be under development at some places, but here is the contact details:

I'm sure they'll deliver (it's going to cost a bit though).

Sorry the stores didn't work out ;)

If you want the real deal, there is a Piano shop in Flora centre Roodepoort.
But now when i mean "real deal" it's the true thing and will set you back a pretty penny ;)
