If people had proper leaders and role models, it would make a huge difference in society's problems ... and this goes from the local neighbourhood all the way up to the top job in the country.

Cape Town - The mother of Rashied Staggie’s rape victim said that she was preparing for her daughter’s funeral when a senior police official revealed that her daughter is still alive.

The Manenberg mother, 55, said she was shocked to find out her daughter is recovering after an attempt on her life by gangsters.

She said her family spent a few weeks collecting donations for her child’s burial, until Friday’s shocking news.

Mitchells Plain Police Commander Major-General Jeremy Vearey visited the grieving mother and told her that her daughter is alive.

And he said that he takes full responsibility for everyone, including the media, thinking the girl had died. She was shot five times near her Manenberg home in July.

Actually, they have been very quiet for sometime but just recently, Ive started to see snippets here and there where they are beginning to be vocal again!

Since the Cape Flats is such a volatile area, was it established with certainty that the attack on her was related to this entire incident? And why only now, after all these years?
 
If she saw her attackers then she and the police know who are responsible for her shooting and why they did it.

These people are cruel. I imagine that it's probably enjoyable for them, having someone live in fear for years only to get revenge when they think that they're safe.
 
The Staggie brothers were identical twins. Rashid always called Rashad when he experienced troubles with PAGAD. The night Rashad died was because of mistaken identity. PAGAD was outside Rashid's house ordering him to come out when Rashad arrived to help his brother.

PAGAD mistook him for Rashid and shot / set him on fire. Rashid was also caught in the back of a bakkie with a sniper rifle with silencer. He had drilled holes in the back of the bakkie and was waiting for his his victim but got caught. The victim was eventually shot and killed at a later stage.

The girl who was raped is in witness protection, for the second time...

I doubt if he would live very long as thr booysen brothers want to control the whole Cape's drug supply. Expect a lot of murders in the next year as they will start fighting for control, rank and turf.

The woman responsible for putting Cape Town gangster, Rashied Staggie, behind bars has died in hospital. 27-year-old Chantal Knight was gunned down two months ago while walking with her boyfriend in Mannenberg.

Residents say they are bracing themselves for the release of notorious gang leader at the end of the month. This as the life of the young woman who put him behind bars for rape has tragically ended.

In 2003, Staggie was convicted of kidnapping and organising Knight's gang rape. He was sentenced to 15 years. He has served little more than 10 years. Knight was put on life support after being shot in July.

“The doctors told me that one of the bullets had penetrated her brain. And so I took her off the machines and she died,” said an anonymous source.

Chantal's two alleged assailants are behind bars. Her mother says she identified them after the shooting. Despite the family's fears they are ready to forgive her attackers.

Meanwhile, Correctional Services have responded to reports of drugs found in Staggie's jail cell.

Great,society should show him that he is not welcome back in the community, wonder why he was granted day parole without a formal job offer
 
He was never released.
Well, he was, but only for a few minutes.
He could be released on condition that he must have had received a work offer and that he must sign and accept the offer.
At the time of his release he haven't received an offer, so he was taken in custody again.
 
Staggie Receiving Job Offers: DCS

Former Hard Livings gang leader Rashied Staggie has received several job offers, the correctional services department said on Wednesday.

"There are people who want to employ him and we need to give them space," said deputy chief commissioner of incarceration and corrections James Smalberger.

"If they [the potential employers] are happy, we will allow Rashied Staggie to go for an interview."

Smalberger declined to give details on the offers, saying it would be "unfair" and "sad" to comment on each specific one.

Staggie was released on day parole from Pollsmoor Prison in Cape Town on Monday morning.

He served 11 years of a 15-year sentence for kidnapping and ordering the rape of a teenager. He was recently transferred to Pollsmoor Prison from the Brandvlei Correctional Centre.

Smalberger said Staggie remained in the day parole centre at the prison until he got a job. Thereafter, if employed, Staggie would have to return to the prison at night until his release on full parole on March 25.

An electronic tracking device would be used to monitor his movements.

Smalberger said the day parole centre had lesser security and parolees were allowed to wear private clothes as part of their reintegration.

Staggie is the twin brother of alleged druglord and Hard Livings gang co-leader Rashaad who was shot dead and set alight during a People Against Gangsterism and Drugs march on his home in Salt River, Cape Town in August 1996.
