Hey Everyone,

Curious if anybody else has had had a problem with this account. It is advertised at R99 per month. I went into standard bank and changed my account and I now see I am been charged R169 a month. Has anybody had this?

Trying to call them but on hold for 15 minutes is not fun.

thanks for the heads up - I seldom use my std bank but I paid some utilities last night and saw my current account has been " downgraded / upgraded to an Elite account?

will have to look into this more closely.

make sure you are not signed up for the elite plus account...the elite plus is R179 pm or R169 pm... i've got that account and i am very happy with it and also the service. my wife has got the same account and only pays half price for her account :D

No, Plus option is only R99 per month. http://www.standardbank.co.za/standimg/standardbank/fileDownloads/Elite.pdf

There are 3 options: Pay as you go, where you pay per transaction, Plus, where there are lots of transactions included (that's the one for R99), or Refund where you have to keep a minimum balance.

If you are paying R169, you're probably on a Prestige account, or they're just still billing you on old rates. New prices only took effect in April.

Well I had the classic plus cheque account for R99 and now its called Elite Plus and its still R99.

I was on the prestiege plus or whatever it was called and I "downgraded" to the same service at a cheaper rate :P Will call them today and see what is going on.

Thanks for the replies

I find this so funny (not to mock your troubles boswald :)). Isn't this whole ad campaign going on about how other banks cheat you on hidden charges on bundled charges?
