Standard Bank mobile app down

I'm not with Standard Bank but a number of the bank's mobile app users were furious as the app wasn't working, well known SA celeb Hlomla Dandala was fuming as he couldn't pay at restaurant because of this functionless app, so as other users here: http://mobile.twitter.com/StandardBankZA?p=1 Anyone has the exact detail of this app's malfunction or in general. Are these sort of apps safe & reliable?

It's not an issue with the app, there is a failure in the backend that has caused most services to go down.

Yep, tried buying someting on BOB but it failed. SB, most useless bank in SA.

im sure other people dislike them more. having your card declined is not a fun experience.
