Standard Bank one-time PIN SMS problems

Standard Bank is having issues sending SMS messages for several of the bank's services, including one-time PINs (OTPs) required to complete certain transactions.

The bank contacted MyBroadband on Friday morning to inform us that it was aware of the issue and was working to resolve it.

I love that FNB and Capitec both use their apps for this. Makes life so much easier, especially if you are out the country.

Also seems a lot of people lose their money with sim swaps, its not a good form of security.

So glad Absa moved away to 2FA years ago. Makes transactions real simple even when abroad traveling.

My problem is on the bottom of the article published by MYBB, it states the problem has been fixed before 12, but it clearly isn't fixed yet.

NIST deprecated it since 2014 already.

i guess ussd is similar to sms in terms of security?
