standby times for android phones

Look ive been thinking about this,why is it that many many many many years ago cell phone standby time were ridiculously long hours and days even weeks and all they were using ( battery consumption)was searching cell networks and being connected to network.
I was wondering why is it today that we cant have that anymore(switch data off,bluetooth,wifi,location all off) the only thing to consume amperes is cell tower connectivity........and still this blastered phone wont stay on as long as a nokia 110.What has the world come to.
What are you standby time with all these off as if you in airplane mode.My guess is you cant do it cause you bloody hooked.
I did a test and i lasted 1.5 days( got a few calls,sms and then dead.Where are the week or even 2 .....lol
 
My previous phone, Mi Max 2 I got about 4 to 5 days.
Current phone Redmi Note 9s I believe I'm also about the same, maybe between 3 to 5 days.
 
Have managed 3 days but hardly used the phone at all.

look turn off everything and you still only get 2 days out of it.something is going on....inferior liON battey is my guess and not the computational standard you so talking about

Even with the radios off, processes continue in the background
 
When signal is weak, mine lasts less than a day. When I'm at home I can charge every second day and still have left over. This is with everything (wifi, BT, full res 2,280x1,080 display) turned on and occasional whatsapps etc.
 
I bought a Samsung S21 and ONLY use it for Grandstream receiving work calls and making calls. Probably 10/15 calls a day. Haven't signed in to Google, no SIM, no apps downloaded.

Standby time is about 2 weeks.
 
With moderately heavy usage my 7 Plus is lasting two days. Standby time is supposedly 30 days, but longest I left on night stand is when I went camping for 4 days, so wifi on and getting messages from people, think went to 60% from high 90s.

All depends on phone, what's installed and usage. Battery life past about a day doesn't matter that much, at that point its more do stuff quickly so user doesn't wait (so have notification now rather than in 5 seconds).

If you have Facebook installed, remove that, huge battery boost.
 
I use a FOSS AggresiveDoze-like app these days on my Xiaomi Mi A1, coming from an iPhone SE (Gen 1), and apart from bad weather taking a hit on signal searching battery life, I wasn't sure why most of the Androids I use in their latest iterations can't keep up with standby anymore, until I started using that. I no longer have to put my phone on Airplane Mode anymore when not in use just to get a day's usage, and while some notifications do get delayed sadly, I easily squeeze out 8+ hours of SOT with medium use and 3 days of standby, can be a week or two if I never touch it and this is a 3000mAh battery! Definitely recommend giving that sort of app a try if your device is struggling and don't mind slightly late highly important notifications (I believe most do), because of course ymmv and I'm not using a stock ROM on top of that.

The Samsung (Galaxy) S21 is only coming out early next year.

I would hazard a guess you mean A21.
 
I'd imagine modern screens are also more power hungry than the screens on older cellphones.

Ideally when you’re not using your phone, it should go into “calculator” mode and not consume too much power.
 
Have you had a look at how much crap runs on Android in the background. There is constantly rubbish grinding away.

Rooting and cleaning up helped my battery life on my last Samsung (S7 I think it was).
 
My AGM X3 gets 3 days in normal mode with 2 SIMs active. Been on leave the last 4 days so haven't used my phone much. Still on 40%.
 
I have my phones resolution permanently set to the lowest and when im in a area with access to WiFi i turn the mobile network to 2G only.

Does wonders...
 
also just get a decent power bank, thats my back up
