Star Citizen

Jip jip. PTU is an early test environment (ironic considering the whole game is in alpha :D ). It is normally only available to a small group of dedicated testers, who help the devs iron out the most glaring bugs. They will then slowly expand the number of testers over time until the patch is ready for public release.

Time spent on the PTU depends entirely on how stable the build is. 2.4 has been a real doozy; it's been patched 17 times since the initial build, and it's still not quite there yet. Persistence seems to be causing some issues on the network side that are very tricky to solve. It's flipping cool when it works though. For example, the other night, the game remembered that I left my flashlight on between play sessions. It's those little moments that make me realize how special this is going to be when it all comes together.

O okay, wow 17 already. Yeah I also think this game is going to be epic. But some of these bugs can really test your patience lol. It seems that after you have done some standard missions in the universe ( and currently not saving your progess ) there's not much else to do will you agree ? Other than obviously playing in arena commander.

That's mostly true yes. You can do the same missions over and over in 2.3 but there's very little point to it. At least in 2.4 you can earn alpha currency, so you can work towards buying stuff (and do it all over again once that stuff gets wiped).

I would say we are rapidly approaching the point where more game mechanics / new star systems / additional missions are needed. Apparently, one of the next patches will add a pirate base to the system, since if you're a criminal it doesn't make sense spawning on Port Olisar all the time. This will add a new dimension to lawless gameplay, along with some more pirate-focused clothing and equipment.

Ek wil die pirate lewe bietjie probeer, nog altyd die good guy gewees. Maar as mens twee karakters kan he sal ek dit doen, andersins maar die good guy bly.

Ok I will hire NPC players rather. It almost looks like I would have to buy a full game package to get another Character. Maybe they will give you the option later on to buy characters with UEC, I hope.

Second paragraph from bottom:

"Players who would like additional Game Character slots, either to create a second player character or to build a customized crew, but don’t have multiple packages will be have the option of a stand-alone Character Slot purchase from the pledge store without having to buy a full game package. "

Technically you dont need to buy any of the additional stuff, including player slots. I honestly dont think having more than one playable character is going to be possible, unless you are unemployed and dont leave the house, or PC.

Did not read all the way through, my bad hehe. Good news then.

animal531 you must also pay insurance on a monthly basis. :D

I don't know if I want to yet but what do you guys know about upgrading your ship. Like I said I have the Mustang omega R9 which is a unique ship you cant buy, but I have the option to upgrade to a different ship bigger or better. Is it even possible and will this option be wiped later Herr_Koos will prob know this ? What will you suggest ?

Depends. Are you talking about upgrading to a different "real money" ship, or earning a ship with in game credits?

Eve Online players...

Harsh. :D

The first two odd years of forum debates mainly centered around why Star Citizen should in no way be like EVE, and how the EVE players expecting EVE with cockpits should just leave before being disappointed.

My first question would be, why? Typically you would only do this if you would like to own a specific ship, because you like it more or it suits your intended gameplay style better, or whatever.

At some point you will be able to start earning ships with in game currency, meaning you won't need to spend any real money. You can do this in Arena Commander already, with REC.

So I would suggest you try and scrape together enough REC to rent the ship you plan on upgrading to, and then give it a test run to decide whether or not it suits you, before dropping any cash on it. Even then, keep in mind that no ships stats are final and everything in the game is still subject to change.

Does this answer your question?

Main reason will be my ship only has 1 puny laser with no option to add (if Im correct) so want more weapons.

Your suggestion is good though to try some other ships.

Basically ship has a value now and want to trade for ship with more weapon options ( while the option is available now ) that will likely be more usable when game is released when ever that is lol.

I see. Well, there's no rush; the sale of ship packages and ship upgrades will eventually stop, but not until we get much closer to release, and also not without a big warning to all backers (plus very likely some huge Final Clearance sale with all ships up for grabs again).

So I would suggest you hang on to the Mustang for now, and try some other ships in game first. There will be free fly weeks again in future where you'll get to try ships you don't own.

I will keep that rare ship, always. Like you said you cant buy it and it's a real beaut.
Okay settled will keep yes wont be able to get it again and like koos said can always get another ship later. Thank you for the suggestions guys.

I cannot bring myself to pay real money for ships even though it's really tempting. I'll just wait and earn them in game when the time is right.
