Patch 2.4.1 went live last night. It's mostly bugfixes and stability improvements. About a 10GB download from 2.4.0.

So how are things in the Star Citizen universe? I haven't played much since I experienced the server LAG.

Still a bit laggy, but 2.4.1 seems a tad smoother to me. Chris R did mention in 10 for the Chairman a few weeks ago that a major network backend rewrite was in progress, since they have now pretty much hit the limit of what CryEngine's networking backend is capable of. If all goes well, this should be released around patch 2.7, which should hopefully bring some major server performance improvements.

You guys should try Ascent the space game. I got my copy on g2a for R90, now the cheapest one there is over R300, but just over R200 on steam. It is really a awesome game. Graphic wise not the best, mostly a game where you mine, trade, build colonies, produce ships, modules, food, minerals and such, so not for everyone, but I haven't played Star Citizen in over a month due to this game lol. But yeah just a thought, the community on that game is the best I have seen to date and always helpful.

2.5 is on PTU :D

Got an invite this morning but will only be able to start downloading tonight. My gigs are trembling in fear.

So I fiddled with 2.5 for a few minutes yesterday, and I think this is going to be an awesome patch. Performance is crap right now (apparently better as of new patch this morning), but once they get it running at reasonable speed it'll be great. The lighting pass that they did made a huge difference to the visual quality, at least for me. FPS movement feels much smoother, head-bob is totally gone, ship HUD's are being reworked, and I think the little Argo is going to be a massive hit. Also, the overhauled ArcCorp runs incredibly smoothly now.

All in all, I love it, and I haven't even been to Grim Hex yet.

Yes performance is a real issue at the moment, it's forcing them to completely rewrite the net code which is probably not very trivial. Chris Roberts has some big ideas for multiplayer which sounds like they want to do away with the traditional instance limits - if they pull this off though it will be huge.

Indeed. New netcode is targeted for 2.7, hopefully by end of year. So we're soldiering on with the old crappy backend for now.

All good news, thanks Herr_Koos. My issues I mentioned a while back got resolved by redoing windows 10, so my bad on that.

Herr_Koos you getting No Man's Sky? Currently waiting for the launch to start so I can download lol.

Nah, it doesn't interest me. I much prefer Star Citizen's handcrafted and detailed approach. Much deeper gameplay to be had.

Guys, this is something to behold.

If you're still sceptical about where this game is headed, take a good long look at this vid.

Sort of lost for words, this is going to be awesome! At least i've got time to upgrade before its released :P (like 3 years ya?)

Full game with all 100 systems, who knows... But what is shown in that vid will be in our hands by year's end if all goes well.

I wonder how they going to handle the whole multiplayer aspect of it though, i mean, how are 10,000 people gonna sit down and speak to that 1 dude for the quest, instance that section? 4 landing bays, how are 10,000 ships gonna try land at the same time.
