Okay so I'm reeeeeaallllyyy bored with this matchup and whenever I find myself up against another Terran player lately I try out something new to spice things up a bit!

Last game I went banshee onto bcruisers but you just can't use this combo vs the mobility and sheer numbers of vikings in mass, marines and tanks on the floor. Took just too long to turn my cruisers around and go defend my base vs his mass of tanks and vikings.

The matchup is totally lame, I hope they change Terran dynamics so more strats in TvT are possible.
 
i hear you! I try to do some earlier aggression to avoid the inevitable viking clash! Its lame currently! I tried marauders since they do ok against tanks...was able to compete at least.
 
3m build. marines,marauders,medvac's OR

Tech immediately into choppers with stealth upgrade and hit their economy then tech up to battle cruizers with yamoto cannon == $Profit

The mmm build gets pwned hard by tanks.. HARD.

Tech to choppers, tried that... a decent player will have one turret up (probs two) at mineral line and ready to put vikings on choppers with scan... also if he scouts properly this strat is quite gas demanding so you will get tanks later than him, if at all and you will have a shortage of infantry compared to him... he will attack early and will probs pwn your economy or atleast some key buildings. If I go into BCruisers (which I have tried before), the mass vikings will just pwn my expensive cruisers and switch to ground mode to mop up the rest of my ground army ... well tanks would probs have pwned them by then.

Trust me... tried alot of stuff to avoid this gayness but I may have to revert to the tank and viking fest in order to keep my win/loss rate okay... and I'm trying to get into platinum so losing all my TvT by trying new stuff isn't exactly helping.

I have seen one other strat which may work ... a quick Thor rush build + 6 or so SCV's behind the Thor to heal him, tanks will mop the floor with me if the other guy has blocked up his ramp tho... so ye, dunno how effective this will be.
 
Yeah I haven't settled on a strat either. I try to adapt as the game goes on (but my starting build is the same) but seem to prefer a Thor/Siege thank mix. The problem I normally run into with that strat is that the opponent will sometimes do the one thing I can't counter. Cloaked Banshee's :( So my strat now involves an all round techup. Start with Marines --> Marauder --> Siege Tank --> Banshee --> Battle Cruiser.

Haven't played many games with this strat, but the one I did, I won :D
 
I generally try marine/tank/viking, but yea, gets a bit tedious.
Last match I lost as I was constantly being harassed by cloaked banshees. Going to maybe try using vikings + thors to counter. Cloudster, I did once try rushing Thors, but got nailed badly. Maybe I need to try this strat again though.

What pwned your Thor rush Tosser? Did you literally rush to Thor or go a generally fast build to Thor?

Always have ...dammit what's it called.. That science vessel thing with your force for invisible units and use them anti-projectile turrets when fighting against Vikings. Those little turrets should pomp their missiles, right? I have actually not tried it before- maybe it's a good idea :D

Btw Cloudster, I think I'm rather going to focus on becoming a better player than worry about which league I'm in. The other night I just thought, screw it, I'm going to go in blind with Zerg. Lost very badly the first game, but I won my second. There's only one way to learn man. Rather have some fun trying some new strats than just tediously playing the same games over and over.

I went thor rush, but couldn't get out sufficient numbers quickly enough.
P.S. thanks for the tip re the science vessel missile thing - gonna give that a bash as otherwise they just hang around in case of banshees, doing nothing useful.

SC2 is everything and more I ever hoped 4, but playing RTS online is just nerve wracking for me.
