I was wondering if anyone has had the same experience:

I used to be able to play StarCraft on my laptop (HP G62) using iBurst Wireless; but when I upgraded the OS to Windows 8 (which I deeply regret), I can't play it anymore. I can logon on to Battle.net, I can pick my game type (Matchmaking) but the game never progresses any further than that.

If I connect to the web using my cellphone, the game works perfectly.

(I'd love to be able to roll back to Win7, but apparently it is not possible.)

Has this happened to anyone else out there?

That's very unhelpful.

All the links are about installation issues or crashes on startup, NOT the issue he's having of it progressing from matchmaking.

oubaas49, have you as a temporary test just tried switching off the Windows Firewall and play a game? (switch it back on afterwards) Have you put anything on like Avast or any anti-virus which has "web shields"?

Starcraft 2 working perfectly on Win 8 x64. Did you do a clean install?

Starcraft works fine for me here on Win8 64x, as it has since the beta for 8.

You must have done something wrong. Make sure you've done a clean OS install.

hi km2 - Yes I've switched of the firewall; still the result is the same.

I use AVG. And I have switched off the 'Web Shield' and the 'Link-Scanner Surf Shield'.

Still no luck...

Thanks for the advice.

hi - No, I didn't do a full clean install of WIn8 -- an did upgrade over the web.

Thanks for your response. Guess I'll just have to play it via the cell phone...

My final stab in the dark here since it could still be a networking issue as it works on the same laptop but with cell instead of iBurst.

On the iBurst network connection change the DNS server from Automatic to Google's one of 8.8.8.8
