What is this place like? Reviews seem to be very mixed, either very good experience or very bad...no in betweens.

Apparently they have this Yankee burger with a 500g pattie...

I don't really mind crap service like waiting long, rude waiters etc, as long as the food is nice

I personally don't like it there.

The place is not well maintained and the food is just average. I think the strongest draw card is the 500g patty burger, which is just a novelty.

When it first opened it was awesome, those days I were a waiter in Tygervalley center and after an evening shift we would go there for a few drinks and bacon and cheese fries. Haven't been there in years but have heard that it is not what it used to be :(

I've experienced that "concept" before on more than one occasion ...in CT. Like don't worry about everything else that's a bit iffy because the food was ok.

Ah okay. I think it is because we have grown so used to schit service that we brush it off... One thing I love about visiting family in Jhb is going out for dinner. Huge difference.

OT... is that a CT 'thing'?
I don't go to a restaurant or diner for the ambiance, I go to eat. All restaurants for me is crap, most of the time the music is crap, other people keep starring at you while you eat, the aircon is either not on or on but irritating, the decor is unsettling... whatever. As long as my plate and utensils are clean and the food is superior, I don't mind waiting.

The only restaurants I like are those right on a beach, preferably with an outside section where I can isolate myself from the indoor idiots, where I can smell, hear and see the waves.

I knew it!! I previously pointed this out to my family down there and basically got told that I just don't understand how things work in CT :wtf:

I see... If I'm going out I prefer the entire experience to be good not just the food. We don't have beaches, mountains and psycho cyclists to visually entertain us some restaurants try a little harder to entice customers :D

I'm sorry to hear that guy, really my heart goes out to you :D:p
Here in happy land we can afford to sacrifice certain things

Rather go to Saint Burger joint for 1kg beast or Sauls Beat-The-Burger 1.2kg monster if you really want to go big.
