Hi – a couple of days ago I noted a problem with my Startimes (white )StarSat decoder. I have two remotes (which worked happily for the past year or more and suddenly both cannot control the decoder. I am pretty convinced it is the decoder – the remotes seem to be working (the led indicator flashes and the IR output can be viewed on a phone camera), I’ve also tried new batteries.
Opened the decoder and touched up the soldering around the IR receiver. Still no go.
I’ve thought of all the obvious philosophical ramblings. (Well, I think so - my background is Electronics). Then the next morning they both were able to control the decoder for a while and sometime later, nothing again.
I’ve heard of DSTV subscribers having issues after a firmware upgrade on their PVR decoders. Starsat helpline was of course not able to suggest anything.
Anyone heard of anything like this? Otherwise off to PEP stores for a new decoder.
