Start menu is broken in latest Windows update

I've never had issues with the standard start menu in Windows 10. I just remove all the tiles then it's just an app list basically. I hardly every browse it as I just hit the Windows key and do a search. Right click on the Windows icon brings up all the system config shortcuts.

I need that one click to access all the system shortcuts, hover for control panel items, hover for a list of all universal apps etc. Exactly as with Windows 7. I use it constantly.

It's not that I couldn't live without it or make do with an extra click or two, but I see zero reason not to use the most user-friendly system.

No, those are a given. I just mean snapping into docs, pics, downloads, OneDrive, control panel, universal apps etc with a single click. And also having pinned apps not looking like crap. Means I can move a bunch of slightly lesser-used stuff off my taskbar and into the start menu.
 
Well.
Maybe just lucky, but since upgrading to 10 earlier this year not a single update has given me any of the problems so regularly reported here.

Luck, or a handful of people have issues and it's suddenly a headline every week.
 
how is the start menu breaking?

i never use the start menu in linux or windows. in macos, i don't use the app folder.

there so many more efficient ways to get to the app you need.
 
Maybe because there are no apps. Windows has programs.
 
Last week a windows 10 update broke my laptop, luckily I did a hard reset and it reverted back to the old build.

Some things just stand the test of time because they work. There's natural progression and companies adapting to it and then there are companies like MS forcing changes in a direction they think they should go. People seem to forget that the components in Windows aren't just there because it was decided they should be but lately it's been that way.
