Just wanted to mention that at 2.02pm 16 May, I have received my reference number from Telkom for ADSL (384 package)

According to the operator, step one is to 'check my box to make sure it can take adsl - and that its not fibre optic or anything' - this can take up to 5 days.
A geek buddy is organizing me a basic modem, sufficient for my 1 pc, no frills needs - which I'll stash in the cupboard till its needed - and spoken with axxess (however its spelled) and planning on guzzling away happily on their 30 gig package, which I'll sign up for when the line comes.
Had enough of fighting for decent speeds, & paying IBursts R399 for extra measly 3 gigs..
Will keep IBursts modem stashed, and if their prices go down sufficiently at some point, I'll look at them again..

So hello ADSL forum - 3 weeks or so, then I guess I'll be lurking here. I apologize in advance for whatever happens :)

Just hope you come right with the installation. When I had mine installed, I had no idea how lucky I was at the time to actually get it. I phoned them every day and got the names and numbers of the people coming out to install and phoned them on thier cell phones prior to them arriving - took a bit of doing to get the helpdesk people to give me the cell numbers of the techies, but I persevered.

I was incredibly lucky, as the day my Sentech was disconnected, my ADSL got installed ! :)
