Hey! So i've recently launched www.diymycv.co.za where you can download, Microsoft Word compatible resume templates that have been designed specifically for South African candidates.

I've uploaded three technical templates and would love to hear your thoughts on them. http://www.diymycv.co.za/collections/technical You just need to hover over them for the image to zoom.

What's to stop me from zooming in on your image on one screen and using Word on my other screen to make my own?

Also after this I have the template which I can surely just share with anyone and everyone so you won't see any repeat business.

A better option would be to ask for the actual data on your website and keep a profile and then you pay R100 to generate the PDF CV to sent to whoever.

Then in four years time I come back and update my details and pay you R100 again to make a nice CV.

There isn't really anything stopping you from doing that... except its a pain to put the whole thing together and most people either don't have the time or the skills to do that. In saying that, I did consider going the pdf route but when I did my research most respondents said they would purchase a MS Word Doc and not a PDF.

Lol R100 for a CV? There's about a billion on Google Docs... and the great thing is unlike MS Office wherever you open them they'll look the same.

Looked at about three pages of that... those cv's are horrible :wtf:
There is another company that sells at R150 per cv and they look something like the one's in the google docs... None of them stand out at all, detail is in the wrong order, fonts are all over the place or not readable..

R100 to someone who is capable of creating a decent cv may seem like alot but there are so many people out there who struggle with basic MS Word skills so this type of product is valuable to them.

I agree and it's mostly because Word is filled with useless crap that 90% of the people out there will never use. Settings boxes with tabs and tabs. Google docs is light and fast and doesn’t have all that junk.

The verdict: Less is more
There’s no question Microsoft’s steadfast word processor would win a feature-by-feature smackdown with Google Docs, but more tools doesn’t necessarily translate into a better user experience. When it comes to the basic formatting tools we use to create documents every day, we can’t find an overwhelming advantage over Docs. If anything, Google’s word processor has the edge when it comes to ease of use, thanks to its simple, intuitive interface. So unless you’re a power user, this is a case where less is definitely more.

Good luck with the endeavor though. The CV's look nice.
