i have just over R5000 saved and willing to investment another R1000 on top of that monthly im confussed between unit trusts and eft's. I'm not looking to invest it for 4-5 years or so, with the ability to monitor my investment any ideas?

Personally would got for a low cost EFT, or even two! Have a look at ETFSA or satrix.

How long DO you want to invest it for?

I would personally start with a book or two about investment, preferably one to indicate what kind of investment personality you have. After this you can decide what kind of products you want.

But If you want a relative "low risk" investment, with the kind of capital you are suggesting, with little to no work from your side, I would suggest looking into EFT's, one of the top one, that have a good track record and been around a while. SATRIX is an good example, and the SATRIX top40 is a good product.

But I can not stress how important it is to educate yourself a little first

Actually looks good.. hrm.. something i need to consider too

Satrix is marginally cheaper than ETFsa. I won't give advice, but I will tell you that all my spare cash goes into the satrix indi every month.
