My feeling is that if you don't already know who supplies what then you shouldn't really be in the game.

I would think you should first perhaps work in the industry and familiarize yourself with the distributors , who they are and what they sell before you consider going in to business in this industry for yourself.

I suggest rather get some hands on experience first or you'll get chewed up and spat out.

Gotta agree with jsheed_sa on this one.

The idea is ok - though the market is saturated, but how do you decide on this specific venture without knowing your way around your suppliers first?

I can tell you one thing. It will be hard to start of as a reseller. Most of your money will be in the support as there's to many shops these days. Do you plan on going for bigger companies or just like the normal shop, etc?

I use to mange a very successful small PC store a few years back. I can tell you that its very very hard work for little money. Do not expect to make any cash for a couple of years, get my drift.

Yup, I was in this business a good few years ago, and got out because the margins are just not worth it unless you crack a few decent sized SMB's or manage to garner the support of the high-end consumer market...

I've also played with this idea and there's just not that much in it! As said previously margins are tight! Will say good luck and look at
Esquire
Pinnacle
Rectron

I used to do this in my spare time, but like mentioned above, the market is saturated and profit margins are so small that I rather spend my spare time doing other things!!

this got me through varsity, 3 yrs ago.. It's a volumes game..but the market is saturated.

Hey guys ,thanks for the replies.we do have suppliers ,for 1 as mentioned pinnacle and we have a couple more .we got some awesome deals overseas as 1 colleague of ours does shipping and can clear it here easily with great prices.we starting off small as no business starts of big.we start off with consumer demands and i am a programmer and have studied computers for quiet some years now,so just the supplier would be an issue..Still studying programming tho

So you have suppliers but the supplier is an issue? Also your spelling & grammar man ... seriously!

Importing equipment from overseas?

Do you guys have the requisite local backup support for the warranty on the product?

Hey toxicBunny...we are still working on it...Manufacturers are giving warranty's to us.we are jus merely doing some market research at this point.

Of course the manufacturers will give you a warranty on the item... but the cost of shipping it back to the point of origin will be for your account, not theirs.
