Starting Doctor Who

Where would be the best place to start if I wanted to start watching the show.
I've seen that it starts in the 1960's? But with differant people staring as the Doctor. Any advice would be given. Would love to get the full back story.

1960's was all black and white and more cardboard sets than in recent series. Wikipedia should give you an idea of storyline.

Basically you need to know the Doctor is a timelord and can regenerate (hence different actors). Starting with the David Tenant series would be a place, and as its all about time... if you went back to an earlier series it wouldnt really matter.

you might as well start with the 2005 series (9th Doctor Christopher ecelston ) or the 1996 movie ( the 8th Doctor with Paul Mcgann).

difficult to start earlier as finding the episodes for the first 7 is *** hard (hell some episodes from the first doctor not even the BBC has)

As for different actors the coolest thing about Dr Who is how they explain the change of actors, (this Isn't a spoiler!) when ever the Dr Dies he regenerates into a different body with a different personalty so each actor can interpret the character in his own way. So the series is the longest runing scifi series ever! (no reboots it just continues even after 2 almost 10 year breaks)

I just did that... and I'm loving it. I dunno why I waited so long to get into this show!

BTW... it is highly recommended to go back to Series 6 and start there rather than series 7.
