Well , I'm gonna start gym for the 1st time ever. I used to play tons of sport in school and be active all the time, was great. When I started campus, I had no time so sports declined and I became unfit. Now with working full time, forget it.

So...what should I do for my first few workouts? I just want something that'll work up a sweat and make me feel better afterwards. Also, what's the best stuff to do to build up stamina? I'm knackered after 10 mins of indoor soccer so I wanna fix that.

Just keep pushing yourself, aerobic exercises are probably your best bet. You get so fooked you wanna puke, that's when you know you had enough. After a short while it becomes easier. I started swimming recently, the first day I could only manage 300m, on the 4th session I pushed 800m and don't feel nearly as bad as after the first days 300m. Just keep going. Oh, and I actually feel good ;)

Get some cardio in and just keep building yourself up. Try spinning ;)

Thing with me is that I almost always DO end up puking! My chest gets tight and I just wanna hurl after a while so I need to sort that out.

I can't swim though, otherwise I also would've just hit the pool. :(

Two words:

Rowing machine.

Also, take it easy at first. Don't overdo it when you're starting out.

Just push a little bit more each time and stick to your routine religiously. I'm now gonna start swimming twice a day + I have my surfing.

I hate gyms, about 4yrs ago I was sitting in the pub and someone said the gym upstairs has a special price (which was good) so we all signed up and provided debit order details. That was the last time I set foot in the gym even though I was paying for it. Why I signed up I dunno as I only lasted like 3 weeks the time before I tried gym. Just find it boring.

I go to a local tidal pool which is free, you stay cool because you are in water and swimming is zero impact on your body unlike running etc. Other thing I really enjoyed was Taebo which I though was going to kill me but unfortunately that ended due to the instructor closing up shop, wish she had charged us R30 instead of R15 per session then she might have still been around. That really got me fit and cut, miss the old me :D
