One of my modules for my dip is intro to programing, later on I will also do a add programming module.

The language is c++ and I want to get a head start by learning the basics ( from sctatch) on c++.

I am 34 and have lots of IT background and have been a BA the last few years so know a few things but programming in any Form is not one of them.

Any advice? And free online courses that I can use?

You can try the online resources like UDEMY, Coursera etc which offer free and paid courses

But Ultimately You would want to find some eBooks on the topic... To be honest the fastest way to learn is to get a Project like on github and dissect it because when you break something and fix it you learn faster than any other way...

Start with a book to get the basics down around the language tho... or and introductory course...

Hyperiondev - local company, sends you assignments and grades them. Plus the owner is on MyBB.

First read the book by Grady Booch about Object Oriented Design.
Without that you will never move forward...

Have a look at coursera.org should be enough on there to get you going.

Find out which software and IDE you will be using and get familiar with the editor etc. That will be a boost.
