State capture inquiry begins

So Duduzane suffered so much that the good tax paying people of RSA made him a billionaire with help of those nice Gupta boys?

So I dunno what realty this oke lives in but every company i joined and left over the last decade has that has offered me a counter has offered the same position. Not owning or partnering.. so how was leaving and coming back as a partner possible let alone where the capital to buy in came from. Especially considering the guy had very little experience.

Zuma is a typical narcissist.. he loves hearing himself speak but i'm guessing when the questioning starts and they focus on specific things he doesnt want to open up about he will use diversionary tactics.

I just hope they don't allow him to basically just keep speaking about random stuff. Seems to me btw that Trump is way worse.. just wondering if the US will ever run a commission when they uncover all the crap he is up to :P

He says he wanted to know if Rupert is ANC when he (Rupert) said his firing of PG was bad. But is the same ANC he ignored and never bothered to consult with when the Guptas handed him the hire and fire lists?

A bean has been spilled, Ngoako Ramatlhodi was recruited as a spy in Lesotho. Pity there is no beans about anything related to state capture.

LOL, they gave the racist savage the boot.

WATCH | Andile Mgxitama barred from Zondo Commission

The Black First Land first party was denied access to the state capture inquiry in Parktown, Johannesburg, on Monday allegedly for wearing party regalia.

Members wanted to attend proceedings to support former president Jacob Zuma who is testifying at the inquiry.

BLF president Andile Mgxitama accused the commission of being an "attack against black people".

"Where is white corruption? They are only using this commission to settle political scores against those who believe in radical economic transformation, specifically black people," he said.

Wait until he tells us about all the suffering of Edward.
I'm waiting for the suffering of Khulubuse.

Poor guy can't even fit into his sports cars because of the WMC plot against fat black people...

5 highlights from Ngoako Ramatlhodi's state capture testimony
Here are 5 highlights from Ramatlhodi's testimony.

Zuma's star team

Ramatlhodi said he had a close relationship with Zuma, whom he first met in 1986.

The pair got even closer when Ramatlhodi was put on a "multi-faceted team" that "was meant to manage the issues of the trials" of Zuma.

While Zuma was deputy president, he faced corruption charges and needed this team to manage his communications, legal inputs and public perception.

"We had a team like that which then had to interrogate each and every facet of the appearance in court and to come out with strategies of how to get him off the hook. And I believe we did very well in that regard."

The Zuma-Gupta "toxic" relationship

Ramatlhodi said Zuma was cautioned about his problematic relationship with the Gupta clan.
"In the national executive we would raise this issue with the president. We would say to him: 'This relationship of yours with these guys is toxic, why don't you end it?'"

"He would say: 'Those people are my friends because they helped my children when I was persona non grata. They helped Duduzane. They helped Edward. They gave them jobs when no one wanted me."

Duduzane attempts to arrange Gupta meeting

According to Ramatlhodi, after months of failing to arrange a meeting between Ramatlhodi and Ajay Gupta, Duduzane resorted to fabricating a story to try to get the former minister to the table.

Ramatlhodi told the commission that Duduzane spoke to him about rumours that Ramatlhodi was "badmouthing" him and the Gupta brothers.

"I then said to him: 'You know Duduzane, you're as good as my son. Why would I run around badmouthing you when you are committing crime? I won't even tell your father, I will just summon you and ask you why are you involved in crime.'"

Ramatlhodi continued: "My own reflection is that they had been trying to meet me for a long time and I was refusing so they had to create a story and hoping that maybe I would then go and meet this fellow called Ajay Gupta."

Waterkloof Air Force Base landing

In 2013, the Guptas landed at the Waterkloof Air Force Base ahead of a family wedding that was held in Sun City in the North West.

"Only heads of state land there," Ramatlhodi testified.

"One day I'm at correctional services, an airplane lands at our Waterkloof Air Force Base carrying wedding people. That for me was the last insult."

"I felt they were insulting even the president because what they were doing was to show off, you know, that they had captured the republic, it's theirs. They are not presidents but they can land at an air force base."

Ramatlhodi said the reception that the Guptas received was "well-planned", which would not have been possible "without higher authority knowing."

Dinners at Gupta Cape Town residence

Ramatlhodi was suprised to find out that staff in his department had dined with the Guptas.

"During the mining indaba, the DG and DDGs from all my departments in minerals would then be hosted by the Guptas in their Cape Town home."

The Guptas would also invite business people and investors.

"The way they operate, they were demonstrating power to these people. What they do, they'll call this whole department there and then call people who would be investors and say: 'You see, we've got the department, it's here, we want you to do this and that.'"

Ramatlhodi claims that he put his foot down when he became minister and banned his department from attending events at the Gupta home.

Assume him declaring he now wants peace is a sly attempt to keep from being interrogated about the wild accusations he's made in his opening statement?

Everyone including him must know that it’s the interrogation part that people actually care about.. the story part no one really cares about other than him implicating himself

I think from Zondo saying "it was important to give this opportunity" was a sly jab at how much filth Jacob has spilled and how it will burn him in the next few days.

Looking at the current posts on social-media, I'd say that Zuma's diversion tactics are working beautifully.

Zuma, plots, poisonings, spies, Rupert and US agents - Here's what you should know:

1. The second part of Zuma’s testimony was much more threatening than the first, with the former president repeatedly saying that he has been “provoked”.

2. He named Ngoako Ramatlhodi, the former minister of mineral resources Zuma fired and replaced with Mosebenzi Zwane, as an apartheid spy recruited in Lesotho.

3. Zuma waived around a piece of paper and said that he has a list of names of (presumably) ANC leaders who worked as apartheid and American spies.

4. Zuma also claimed that businessman Johann Rupert threatened to “shut down the country” if he fires Pravin Gordhan as finance minister. This was allegedly told to him by Fikile Mbalula.

5. The commission also heard that Zuma survived a poisoning attempt and that there was a plot to assassinate him in Durban, with the killers being flown in from overseas.

6. Zuma clung onto the Guptas, saying they were friends, comrades and businesspeople. He gave their newspaper (The New Age) its name and proposed that they should launch a news channel, which later became ANN7.

7. The Guptas were better friends with former president Thabo Mbeki than he was, Zuma claimed, and said that they were also friends of former president Nelson Mandela.
