State capture inquiry begins

State Capture Inquiry Chairperson Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo expects former President Jacob Zuma to testify at the commission from Monday, 16 November to Friday, 20 November 2020. “We do not negotiate dates with witnesses,” Zondo said sternly on Monday, 21 September 2020.

Zondo recorded a remark in one of the letters from Zuma’s attorneys, which suggested dates should be negotiated. “No dates will be negotiated with them or with him,” said a stony-faced Zondo. “This commission has made it clear to the attorneys who represented him before that this commission does not negotiate dates with witnesses.”

but, his legal council have negotiated with 'excuses'. I doubt they will save the date. They get it postponed in November, then it will be 2021, and as I understand the Zondo Commission have been granted extension until March 2021 and I don't think they will continue once they have reached that date, and they have a break.

From my view, I think the Zondo Commission is going to recommend the NPA to pursue a 'witness' testimony which will result in nothing.

The arms deal case have to be it, and without the French playing along I don't expect any positive results either.

No doubt Zuma will consult Dr ZK Motene to come up a completely new undetectable illness that will affect him terminally between those 2 dates. Watch the space.

Several of the key suspects began their corrupt careers in provinces, before moving onto the national stage:
Zwane now serves as an ANC MP and is dogged about his political survival. Zuma appointed him as Minister of Mineral Resources in 2015. Previously, he was the MEC of Human Settlements in the Free State.

Every time someone in the Zuma faction opens their mouth's I get depressed. They act so arrogant and unaccountable because there are just so many of them in government.

Attacking the judiciary is not a good long-term strategy:

Attacking the judiciary is not a good long-term strategy:
Equality under the law died out a long time ago. The job of a lawyer today is to delay proceeding, make payoffs, to intimidate the prosecution, witnesses and judges and then to claim one of thousands of possible irrevant irregularities once they are forced to . Add to this state capture with so many people implicated and so many people on the payroll of the Zuma faction there is no way this thing can ever have a conclusion.

But wasn't that the very job description of a lawyer all along? They do tend to be very mean to witnesses in the movies, sarcastically call the prosecutors learned colleagues while being very patronising, I've always thought that's how they've always rolled.

Yip. But the movies are wrong as it just show them being mean during the court cases.

In the real world the wealthy and powerful use lawyers before cases even get to court.
That's why Epstein got away with what he could for so long. Block negative articles. Paid off the cops. Intimidate witnesses. Call victims' prostitutes. Threaten lengthy costly courts cases the victims can't afford. Threaten ruining reputation and create fear.

The wealthier and more powerful friends you have, the more **** you can get away with the help of your lawyers and powerful friends.

Just look how Prince Andrew doesn't even have to go to the US to face charges. if he was an ordinary person then the US would have extradited him.

Erm, that's not how it works. The US or any other country on the planet cannot extradite a foreign national.

That would be extraordinary rendition,
Extraordinary rendition, also called irregular rendition or forced rendition, is the government-sponsored abduction and extrajudicial transfer of a person from one country to another with the purpose of circumventing the former country's laws on interrogation, detention and torture

I meant US extradition request for the UK to extradite him to the US
