I think the calling of all these horrendous attacks as xenophobic is wrong.

This is just a nice label to shift the responsibility onto the frustrated peoples of our country. The causes of the violence lie in the inability of government to do its job.

From what I understand the residents of a lot of the townships have been very tolerant of people from other parts of South Africa. If they were xenophobic violence would have been a continuous fact of life and you'd never have a maid, or a gardener, or a factory worker, or a (insert your own job descriptions here). They'd be too scared.

I am not justifying the means, but I am trying to understand the frustrations. (And, yes there are those scum who take advantage of the chaos).

Enough of the little spin labels. It isn't load shedding, it's a blackout. It isn't xenophobia, it's state incubated violence. (At least until I come up with a better phrase).
