State prosecutor robbed

On Tuesday, as she describes it, she became a statistic "just like thousands and thousands of other people" when she was held up and robbed at her Bryanston home at lunch time.

Considering the most high-profile case on her resume, one has to wonder if this was targetted. She certainly didn't endear herself to the accused's supporters.

Good. Maybe they would now do something, sooner than later, and not set good examples, like with the Yengenis and Zumas, that go off scott free in relation to their crimes.

No-one was killed or injured in the attack, a message to crims that you don't have to kill or maim during a robbery

and once again Kudos to the SAPS

The message should be that you shouldn't rob at all, not that you can hold a woman and her children up outside their house with impunity, and then swagger away. I'm happy that no-one was hurt.

Kudos for responding quickly to a high-profile person who has been threatened and who can make serious trouble for them? This shows that the police are a reactive force against personal crime. By the time they're there the criminals will have had the time to walk away... getting away with murder, figuratively if not literally.
 
I am almost sure that the Police officials who reponded to the call, had no idea to who they were rushing, I know most policemen rush out to scenes and don't care whether it is the richest man in the country or the poorest SOB on the planet, they just do their job.

xt: the police do the best that they can. This is undisputable. However, a figure like the prosecutor is many times more likely to be given priority over anything else going on, and the local police were probably alerted that there might be trouble around her.

That said, the police seem to be trying to drag their image out of the mud, and are having some success. Barring Metro, of course, which continues to sink deeper and deeper.

The old adage, one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. However, I think it's way past the stage where people should be singing songs about machine guns. Anyone have a full translation of the song? The newspapers only translated part...

I understand :) The best they can, in the dispensation that could be taken as anything I presume. I am sure, being a high up figure, she had no special reaction force number not available to the public. Maybe this whole thing is a setup to show how good the cops is. NAH? cannot be. That's for LG to consider.

"Awulethu umshini wami" - literally translated "bring my machine(gun)"
The song loops around those same words over and over again. Lots of other songs that were composed during the arm struggle are still being sung at cosatu/sacp/anc congresses even today. Some of them like "mshini wami" are completely irrelevant today. "mshini wami" is probably JZ's own composition or perhaps it used to be his siganture tune.
