I know I will be flamed for this, however, I think you should all know,

- Telkom will be released a Fixed IP service for clients to compete with IS soltuions.

- Telkom will also be realasing a 2mb broadband connection as well as further reducing the cost of line rentals.

This will put off any action by ISP's and ICASA

Directly from the DEVILS mouth tonight at a dinner attended by some big-wigs from Telkom - PM me for more info if you want.

Did they make you drink blood or sign your life away ?

Seriously, we can't make Telkom do anything unless they don't wan't to. Besides they can't be the oppressor and a marter at the same time.

They seem to be good at being both !,

I have heard a smiliar rummor about the 2mb line, Fixed IP make sense, but they will port shape it so whats the port I mean point ?

what action from ICASA ? :p

LOL :D

This is ludicrous, downloading at full speed means you will reach your 3 GB cap in 3.3 hours. This means you can only use your line full speed for 0.46% of the month.

At least the fixed IP is a welcome idea! The DynDNS doesn't always work, and, with most of them using international servers, with a hard cap it stops altogether: bye, bye VPN! With Fixed IP that's solved! So, my question: when?

WTF...Telkom pricks again offering an even faster car, but still with the longest hi-way still being 3km?
When will they wake up and realise that speed is useless if you can't use it for more than 1% of the month!

Static IP's = R99 ex vat addon fee (great value for money)
2 MBit ADSL = Only R780 ex vat ( cap ranges from 1gig up)

Ok now this is all fictional, but sounds very probable ;-)
