Hi all

I am having multiplayer issues on one of my games. I cannot connect or find certain friends
In game I am being informed my NAT settings are strict. Recommended solution is to forward certain ports.

I have done the port forwarding on my router, but here is where I have the problem. Nothing seems to have been fixed, my in game issues still persists. Going back to portforward.com website, I see they mention I need to setup a static IP FIRST in order to get portforwarding to work.

I have searched through these pages and it seems that TELKOM do not offer static IPs on ADSL lines.
1)Is this still true?
2)Is this actually required for portforwarding?
3)Am I stuck up the creek without a paddle now?
4)Am I misunderstanding something?
5)Is there a workaround?
6)Is there any way to check that the portforwarding is working?

Thanks

I'm not very helpful regarding the multi player server.

Have you added or checked the port is allowed in windows firewall?

What port are you using?

As for the static IP, I make use of No-IP for the Dynamic DNS for my FTP sever. So it uses and address/host name instead of an IP.

I also just use a dynamic DNS client on a dynamic IP.

You don't need to enable a static IP for port forwarding to work, but it's possible to get the configuration on your router wrong...

It's not recommended from a security point of view but sometimes if you enable UPnP on your router, the relevant applications can forward ports to themselves automatically. I know WhatsApp does it for WhatsApp calls on my router.

Edit: static IPs may not be available but your ISP may or may not allow incoming traffic to that port. It also depends on whether you're behind a carrier-grade NAT as to whether you'd be able to accomplish anything (though this is more common with mobile than an ADSL). One would need more information than you're currently providing in order to diagnose property.

That is correct.

You do need a configure a static IP on your desktop computer first.
No need for a public IP to get port forwarding working. Telkom is using dynamic IP's that should be fine.

1. Go to control panel and network settings and set your computer to use a static IP address. The Windows firewall or any 3rd party firewall software could potentially block the TCP and UDP ports needed so add them to the white list.
2. Log into your router and setup port forwarding to the necessary UDP and TCP ports pointing to your static computer IP.

Game server -> Telkom Dynamic IP -> Gaming PC

Thanks Guys for your offered solutions. Doing some searching it seems that something got broken on the latest update with coop modes in the game, so many people cannot join each other.

I have opened ports and followed steps above, however it is just this game and its broken patch that is causing me grief.
