static noise coming from my pc what could it be?

Specs:
MSI 880GMA-E45
8 Gigs of DDR3 @ 1600
MSI radeon HD 6850
Amd athlon IIx3 455
Aerocool E78- 730W

The sound just started about 30 mins ago, im trying to figure out whats causing it and what exactly is making the noise. sounds like its coming from my PSU as far as i can tell, could be the fan but i cant really see the fan as it is facing the bottom of the case.

my pc is running fine, temperatures are fine. everything is running smoothly as it should. so i can't really figure out whats causing the noise my guess is either the psu fan or one of my case fans. my case is brand new got it last week so i doubt its the case fans but who knows.
 
Had a similar noise on my last desktop PC. In my case it was definitely coming from the PSU, so while feeling daring, I opened it up to see if there was anything "visible". Something obstructing the fan etc..

Couldn't see anything at all, put it all back together and carried on using a "hissing" PC. About a week later there was a pop and some smoke.

Not to say that this will happen to you, or that the issues are exactly the same. But just a heads-up. :erm:

Theory is that most electric components generate some kind of a "hissing" or static noise, just strange that it just started happening randomly. You don't smell anything funny? Burning plastic etc.
 
Don't smell anything, but it sounds like a electric sound but it isnt very loud... when it started happening it sounded like something messing with a fan then the static sound came after. but now all the fans are fine i checked them all, also all the fans are clean, no dust on them.

could be the motherboard actually, ive had it for about a year. and i just recently looked at reviews on this board with people saying: " It died at 18 months. The 4-pin aux connector shorted, which apparently is a common problem on this board. It will appear like the PSU has died, but if you unplug the 4-pin aux, things kick back in and run."

though that doesnt really explain the static noise, and im really hoping this MB doesnt die on me cause i havnt got the cash to replace it right now
 
Yea.. I think I have the same problem. I have replaced fans , cpu fans etc. Sometimes there is a hissing /pitch sound. But has been like this for 6 months easily. I thought might be PSU fan...

Maybe you should apply the rule: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
 
I have the same Motherboard since December 2010. Going strong, handles my Phenom X6 1055T (2.8Ghz OC>3.3Ghz>turbo 3.6).
My Samsung monitor sometimes makes high frequency, squealing noises though.
