Trying to determine whats causing this problem. It's a MTN, unbranded HTC Desire. Anyone else having the same problem, please post your current software/firmware details here:

Firmware version:
2.1-update1

Software number:
1.15.405.4

Had same error. Updated to 1.21 and now running froyo.

Thanks, that sorted it out. To those of you wanting to do the same, you will need to download the HTC Sync tool in order to get the USB drivers to run the phone in Debug mode to go from 1.14 - 1.21.

Froyoing away now :D

Why do you need to run anything in debug mode?
I downloaded update.zip to the root of the sdcard and then booted the phone and did the apply update steps.

No the update to take it to .21 is an executable that runs from your desktop. When I ran it the first time it came up with a device driver it couldn't find, that was rectified by the HTC Sync tool.

There is a zip update, as stated in the other thread, which works the same way as the Froyo update. No need for sync software..

Hi all,

I just updated to 2.1 using the .exe update and now I am trying to update to froyo and I get the status 7 error. Any ideas?
