Hi guys,

Someone just tried to hack my steam account. I will now explain the process.

They first contact you on steam as a steam friend. Then they ask you to join a team and that the admin needs to verify you.

They give you a website to go to to register with your steam e-mail.

Then they spoof that mail on gmail and bind it to your current e-mail address. They ask you for the code sent on your cellphone which then authorizes this account to be linked to your account. Then they simply request a password reset code and hack your account.

Beware.

Am I allowed to post his steam id here? He has quite a few South Africans on his friends list.

I was distracted...but i sorted it out quite quickly...didnt have time to even change my password...or log on.

Maybe that guy got hacked and is using that account to hack? No hacker is that dumb to use their own account.

hacker? kid is 19, from Eastern Cape who uses a Wordpress template site with 000webhost and sendmail() to spoof IP headers. He uses his own account, and 4 others to appear to be a team looking to recruit players for a clan. Nothing more than a mediocre SE attempt by someone who knows how to read posts on reddit.

So lets report him,

For suspected fishing and hijacking.

Reason: They asked me to join a team and that the admin needs to verify me.

They gave me a website to go to to register with your steam e-mail credintials.

Will get exactly fokol done but go for it. I have already emailed an admin at Steamrep, linked him to this thread and send him proof of everything so the nerd is blacklisted on Streamrep.

The more reports he gets the chances of him getting banned are higher.

Dont want to link the website...might have some malicious software on it
