I purchased Command and Conquer 3 for my son some time ago and I want to install on my own PC and play against him. The C&C account is in my name. How do I get a copy onto my own PC and play against him on the LAN? Can I purchase again under the same account - can we play multiplayer this way? Or do I need to open a new account and buy on there to install on my own PC and play over LAN?
Thanks!

You each need your own steam accounts. C and C 3 is actually on discount now for the summer sale.

Yes, I saw that! Ta for the help.
What about on Origin? I assume it's the same thing - separate accounts. If I have it from Steam and he has it from Origin, does that matter with LAN play?

Origin is EA's version of Steam. Most see it as a poor knock off and only use it when they are forced.

Steam has many more sales and much more games. So try keep everything on Steam.

Thanks, but is it possible to play multi-player if one purchased the game from Steam and one from Origin? I imagine if it's LAN it's OK?

MP should be platform independent.

Think servers may be empty though....

edit...no you'll need 2 copies on 2 accounts.

Thanks guys, appreciate the help! Steam it is then!
