Steam Disconnections

I wonder if anyone can help?Ever since I installed Windows 8.1 on my gaming pc,I have been struggling with constant disconnects from the steam servers.It happens randomly,but can't really play games online,especially coop as my friends list just dies.

Any thoughts?

PS. All Software and drivers up to date.
Did not have these issues with Windows 7
 
Is it Steam or your Network Connection (your Ethernet or Wi-Fi adapter) which disconnects?

It is only Steam.
Everything else fine.Friends list dies for a few seconds and then comes back,but that also means that any online game via steam disconnects.

Do you have any peer blocking applications running, blocking HTTP?

Do you have any torrent clients open when this happens?
 
No Peerblock or torrents.Don't run them on my machine.

Only difference is change from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1.
Fresh install.Starting th think Windows 8.1 is the devil.

Without an in-depth analysis, other than port/domain/HTTP(S) blocking or limiting bandwidth/ports (e.g. downloading/uploading torrents), my only suggestion is to reinstall Steam. I have 4 devices running steam on Windows 8.1 without any issues.

Thanks,I have done that already.Think I'll revert to Windows 7 again as I still have it installed.
 
Tonight Steam or Internet is *** since Dota 2 local was 200ms+.
 
I think Steam is having some issues - also had some random disconnects yesterday and over the weekend.

Dota 2 Asia started last night with Americas qualifiers - anyone watch?
 
This has been going on ever since I installed Windows 8.1.Basicallly a day 1 error.

Can someone running Steam on Windows 8.1 also give me their Steam App version number please

I noticed my version was built Nov 18 and Steam API: v017 Steam Package version: 1416350232

I would think there has been many updates by now.
 
You have the latest update.

You could try opt in to the Steam Beta program. It's in Settings -> Account. Just be aware that the Beta updates often.
 
I think I might have solved it.Changed my power plan settings from Balanced to High Performance.
No disconnections so far.
