Steam Iron Water Leaking

Water sometimes leaks out when the iron is held vertically. Is this a common occurrence or defect?

If it's filled past the line yes. Otherwise no

Its usually when the temp is not set high enough to produce steam that it leaks.
Make sare the temp is at max.

It's not filled beyond maximum. It leaks before I even plug it in. Also, it runs out of steam real fast. I was ironing for about 15 minutes and it was out. Hopefully they'll refund me so I can get the Philips.

It's just over a month old.

mine does that too. not overfilled.
I just increase the heat and wait a while and then its fine (the kettle is probably quite old though)

Will do. It was pretty cheap so not entirely unexpected. Also, it was one of the few with a stainless steel sole-plate which I prefer to the non-stick variety.

I don't iron in my boxers anymore. The dangly bits met the hot iron sometime last year or two.
